info
This page contains information about the Missouri points system which is used to determine whether a person's driver's license should be suspended, revoked, etc. This chart applies only to drivers with Missouri driver's licenses, folks from other states will have their state's rules apply to their driver's licenses.
For instance, Kansas uses a different system, simply calculating the number of driving violations in a rolling calendar year, 3 year period, 5 year period, or 10 year period, depending on the immediate offense and the potential effect on a driver's license.
If all of this information seems confusing, that is because it is. The Legislatures change driving laws and licensing laws almost every year, so it pays to consult with an experienced Kansas City traffic ticket amendment attorney to determine the effect a ticket might have on your driver's license.
The good news is that our law firm can often amend, fix, or secure a dismissal or diversion for many Kansas City and Missouri traffic violations. These amendments/resolutions will serve to keep the ticket from adding points or negatively affecting your state driving record. In turn, this will prevent your insurance rates from rising due to the ticket.
Call us at (913)764-5010 to speak to a traffic atorney about your case today.
If your Missouri driving privilege was suspended, revoked, or denied and you would like to know how to get it back, follow the three steps below.
If you have two or more reasons why your driving privilege was taken away, look on the chart under each reason to see what forms you need and the total amount to pay. NOTE: You will only need to file one proof of liability insurance form (i.e., SR-22 form; click here for a sample SR-22 form even if it is required under all reasons for which you lost your driving privilege.
For Example: If you lost your driving privilege because of points from speeding tickets, you must file an SR-22 insurance form and pay $20. However, if you ALSO lost your driving privilege due to refusing to take an alcohol or drug test, you must file proof you completed a Substance Abuse Traffic Offender Program (SATOP), file an SR-22 insurance form, and pay an additional $45. Altogether, you must pay a total of $65, complete a SATOP, and file an SR-22 insurance form.
